|
Children | Laughing child, no one loses, equality | Repetition, low exposure, black and white, sullen music, mundaneness. |
Here's the Plan | warm colors, happy music, high pitched happy sounding vocalizations | Cool colors, low saturation, empty space |
Blade Runner | Bright billboards and neon signs, futuristic technology | Low brightness, smoky environments, lighting that makes for eerie and half-lit faces |
A utopia is a world where everything is all well, happy, and good. A utopia is a vision of a perfect society and for that reason it can be very different depending on the view of the author or artist. Artists show utopia in art with warm colors, high saturation, high vibrance, and high exposure, among other things. Conversely, a dystopia is the worse possible world. One of immense suffering, pain, and oppression. Some ways artists show dystopia is with low saturation, repetition, low exposure, and cool colors. Despite being utopia's opposite, dystopia is similar to utopia in that the views of the artist or author show through in their vision of a utopia or dystopia.
