Reflections of 1st Semester
One photographer I discovered this semester was Peter Lik, I really like his use of wide depth of field and high saturation on his landscape photography. Another favorite is Alexey Titarenko. Titarenko uses multiple exposures or a very long exposure to capture scenes where people are quickly moving around, creating an ominous blur that that connects the people walking.
I have learned to look at a scene I am trying to capture and intelligently form a composition incorporating basics, like rule of thirds or leading lines, even when it is not the propose of the assignment.
My favorite project was the color project because messing with and bringing out colors is most interesting and nice looking to me, however I have also liked messing with photos of Brayden: making him green, turning him into letters, etc.
I think I perceive the world as a bit underexposed and undersaturated, because the style I like in my own and others' work is brighter and more saturated than reality, which can make everything seem a bit gloomy, however that might just be because it's winter.
I used to mostly use photography to take photos of my friends that make them look funny, and while I still like to do that, I also like editing and composing photos to make them look actually good.
I am interested in furthering my editing and Photoshop skills.
